COMMUNITY GUIDED WALKS - 2017

 The Sandgate & District Historical Museum presents a program of guided historical walks throughout the local area each year.

 The walks provide an opportunity for young and old to learn about the Sandgate community, and about the early settlers and the development of the area.

Saturday 25th March 

The Shorncliffe Pier and Moora Park – “Step back into the Past on the Shorncliffe Pier”

“Peep into the Past” – Historic houses of Sandgate


APRIL

 Saturday 22nd April

“Discovering the heritage Bald Hills Cemetery”          -Discover the secrets of our pioneers and share billy tea and damper.

“Peep into the Past” – Historic houses of Sandgate

 “The Dowse lagoon Heritage and Nature Trail Walk” – explore the Sandgate watering holes – the lagoons, the bird life, the life of Thomas Dowse and an historic 1872 monument, the Sacred Heart Church built in 1881, and St Margaret’s Anglican Church built in 1927.

 

JUNE

Thursday 22nd June

 “The Dowse lagoon Heritage and Nature Trail Walk” – explore the Sandgate watering holes – the lagoons, the bird life, the life of Thomas Dowse and an historic 1872 monument, the Sacred Heart Church built in 1881, and St Margaret’s Anglican Church built in 1927.

 All of the walks are rated “easy” and start at 9.30am. (2hours)

 Cost is $25 and includes morning tea.
